Polymère is a short film shot in the Abbey of Royaumont in France. It is a choreography-oriented endeavor composed of multiple scenes that come together as a unique and coherent body of work. It is the story of bodies expressing themselves viscerally, through tension and opposing energy, and ultimately taming one another.
It all starts with a duo moving in symmetry, until their mutual attraction pulls them into a kiss. The embrace gives way to a sensory « corps à corps » as a third actor joins the fray to form a brutal and primitive trio. The dancers play with the surrounding space with movements that push them to the brink of balance, then come together as one: this marks the entrance of a fourth character. The newcomer envelopes and guides the trio, melding their bodies into an immobile living sculpture.

In this project, the camera serves as a witness to the alchemy of erupting bodies. It travels with the dancers as they move, and only comes at a standstill at the very end. The intent is to play with the surrounding symmetry so as to ultimately deconstruct the lines and be free from any architectural constraints.

The (electronic) music, composed solely for the purposes of this film, is derived from a process of wavelengths: the goal is for the sound to pierce the dancers’ movements and their interior movements. The costumes, once again created specifically for this project, are designed to be tightly attached to the body, acting as a second skin : flesh is visible, ever present, and ends up by melding into a coherent whole.
